On December 7, at 3:29 AM, rescuers received a report of a residential house fire in the village of Bieloziórny, Lepel District.
“When we arrived at the scene, the roof of the semi-detached two-apartment house was already completely engulfed in flames,” said rescuer Dzmitry Holubets.
A young man, born in 2000, was near the house. He pointed to a window and said his grandmother was inside. He explained that when the fire broke out, he and his grandmother were in the house. He managed to escape through the window, called rescuers, and tried to help his grandmother get out, but could not do it on his own.
“Rescuer Dzianis Pietkievich entered through the window, saw the woman on the bed, and handed her over to us. We wrapped her in a blanket and shortly afterwards handed her over to the emergency medical personnel who had arrived at the scene,” Dzmitry added.
Meanwhile, rescuers Vital Navumovich and Nikita Karaban went to inspect the second apartment of the house. There was no fire in it, but it was heavily smoke-filled. Rescuers found the owner, born in 1969, asleep on the bed and carried her out into the fresh air.
Both women were hospitalised for further examination after being assessed by medics.
As a result of the fire, the roof of the house was partially destroyed, and the ceiling, property, and walls were damaged. An investigation into the fire is underway, and the cause is being determined. A possible cause being considered is a violation of the rules for operating a stove heating system.
