This was announced today to journalists by the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lidiya Yarmoshyna, BELTA correspondent reports. According to the head of the CEC, the financing of the election campaign for the presidential elections is provided for in the 2010 budget. Moreover, Br27 billion is allocated for the first round, and about Br11 billion for the second round. Lidiya Yarmoshyna clarified that if necessary, the second round of the presidential elections may take place on December 26. Commenting at the request of journalists on the appointment of the presidential elections for December 19, the Chairperson of the CEC said that she considers this day quite acceptable. In her opinion, elections can in principle be held on any Sunday in December, but January is considered unsuitable for holding elections. She also clarified that the appointment of elections for December 19 was a "predictable surprise" for her, as the CEC assumed that the elections would take place on one of the Sundays in December. -0-
