Every year, the participants of the event demonstrate a high level of training. Among the athletes are schoolchildren, students of educational institutions, and employees of urban organizations and enterprises. For the second year, representatives of agro-towns have also wished to participate in the relay race.

To support the relay race participants, numerous colleagues and friends gathered in Freedom Square.

Schoolchildren were the first to start.

For several years, students of Secondary School No. 1 have been the winners of the relay race. It is not easy to maintain the leader's position. Behind a series of victories lie days of numerous training sessions.

- All members of our team attend sports clubs at school and participate in various sports sections at the Lepel Children and Youth Sports School, - notes Valery Bulakh, a physical education teacher at Secondary School No. 1. - Pupils of the 10 "A" class, Alyona Borykova and Yulia Divina, have been attending the school volleyball club for several years. Alyona is actively involved in various sports. Nikita Pavel, a pupil of the tenth "B" class, has repeatedly brought glory to the secondary school. He is the leader of the school volleyball team and is actively involved in tourism. This year, Nikita took first place in the summer multi-event at the district competitions for pre-conscription youth "Defender of the Fatherland". Vladislav Tukhta, a pupil of the tenth "A" class, has become a candidate for master of sports in rowing. Not long ago, he brought glory to the Lepel region at the republican rowing competitions. Margarita Zolotukha, a pupil of the 10 "A" class, as well as Alexey Shakun and Sabina Markova (9 "B" class), are actively involved in the handball club at the Lepel Children and Youth Sports School. Andrey Leyko, a pupil of the eleventh "B" class, is also committed to sports.

Physical education teachers of Secondary School No. 1, Valery Vladimirovich Bulakh and Vladimir Ivanovich Klunduk, can be proud of their students. This year, the team of Secondary School No. 1 took first place in the district sports meeting among schools.

One after another, the athletes reach the finish line and pass the baton to the next team member. Enthusiastic shouts of fans can be heard everywhere.

And now comes the long-awaited and exciting moment of summing up the results of the relay race. This year, the team from Secondary School No. 1 became the leader among secondary schools. The second place in the relay race was taken by the young athletes of the I. Yerashov Gymnasium, and the third place by the Secondary School No. 3. Among the work collectives of enterprises and organisations, the first place was awarded to the team of the healthcare institution "Lepel Central District Hospital", the second place to the team of OJSC "Lepel Mechanical Plant", and the third place to the athletes of the District Department for Emergency Situations. Among the agro-towns, the winner was the team from the agro-town of Staroie Lyadna, the second place was taken by the athletes from the agro-town of Babrovo, and the third place by the athletes from the agro-town of Kamen.

Each team that took a prize-winning place was awarded a Cup, and the team members were awarded medals.

It is very pleasing that the composition of the teams is updated every year, which means our friendship with readers is strengthening, and "Lepelski Krai" is not losing its popularity.
