TODAY THE LEPEL DISTRICT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE HELD A MEETING ON THE FORMATION OF PRECINCT ELECTORAL COMMISSIONS

In accordance with the Calendar Plan of organisational measures for the preparation and conduct of elections on the unified voting day of 25 February 2024, approved by the Resolution of the Central Election Commission, the nomination of representatives to precinct electoral commissions concluded on 19 January of the current year.

In accordance with Article 34 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus, commissions may consist of 5 to 19 members. Judges, prosecutors, and heads of local executive and administrative bodies cannot be members of the commissions.

Seventeen precinct electoral commissions have been formed in the Lepel district, comprising 217 individuals, including: representatives of political parties – 10 people (4.6%), public associations – 52 people (24%), trade unions – 59 (27.2%), work collectives – 10 (4.6%), and citizens in respect of whom applications for nomination to precinct commissions have been received – 86 (39.6%).
Of these, 14 are public servants.
All requirements for the formation of precinct electoral commissions in accordance with Article 34 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus have been met.
An announcement on the formation of the commissions will be published in the next issue of the district newspaper.
