The Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory, the Glubokoye Canning Plant, and BELAZ have become the most visited enterprises by trade union members of healthcare workers of the Vitebsk region in the first half of 2024. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the regional committee of the industry trade union.

About 40% of the total number of trips during the half-year, of which 91 were organised in total, fell in May and June. The region's medical workers dedicated their trips to important dates – the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the 79th anniversary of the Great Victory. In particular, tourists travelled to the hero city of Brest, and to places of historical and cultural heritage of the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions.

Other routes were timed to coincide with the 120th anniversary of the trade union movement in the country and the Year of Quality. For the first time, members of the industry trade union visited the Russian cities of Pskov and Veliky Novgorod on organised excursions.

Among the industrial enterprises that the medical workers of the northern region have shown the greatest interest in during the Year of Quality are the Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory and the Glubokoye Canning Plant. The undisputed leader in terms of visits remains the world's largest manufacturer of large-capacity quarry dump trucks, OJSC "BELAZ" in the Minsk region.

"A total of 91 tourist and excursion events were held in January-June, 69 of which were organised in cooperation with UP "Belarustourist". More than 2.9 thousand people took part in such excursions in total. In fact, during the specified period, the industry trade union allocated more than Br280.5 thousand for tourist and excursion activities, with more than Br255.5 thousand of the total amount allocated for the services of UP "Belarustourist"," the regional committee explained.

In addition to the educational function, familiarisation with and study of the historical and cultural values of their native country, such excursions help to increase the effectiveness of the work of trade union organisations in this area and strengthen the morale of the teams, noted Vladimir Plytkevich, Chairman of the regional organisation of the industry trade union.

In the second half of 2024, many trips by healthcare workers of the Vitebsk region will also be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the institution of the presidency. All routes are developed taking into account the wishes of the tourists themselves.
