The start of the new academic year will be celebrated by Novopolotsk residents with a rock festival

A rock festival will bring together 25 musical groups from Belarusian regions in Novopolotsk on 30 August, as reported to BELTA correspondent by Vadim Devyatovsky, Chairman of the Novopolotsk City Organisation of the Republican Public Association "Belaya Rus", Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Standing Commission on Healthcare, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy.

This is the third rock festival to be held in Novopolotsk during the "Musical Evenings of Belaya Rus" campaign. "Novopolotsk is a young student city, which explains the interest in this musical genre. The first rock festival took place in the city three years ago and involved about a dozen bands. Last year, the number of groups almost doubled, and now we cannot accommodate everyone who wishes to participate. Applications for participation are coming from Belarusian regions, as well as from neighbouring Russia. We give priority to domestic groups, as the main goal of the festival is to support young talented musicians. Participation in this event can be a good starting point for aspiring rock musicians. About half of the participants of the current festival are representatives of the Polotsk region, and there will also be well-known bands from the capital and representatives from other regions of the country," the source explained.

He added that the festival is held with the informational support of the "BelMuzTV" television channel, and the general sponsor of the event is "Borovaya" drinking water. "And this is no coincidence. The festival takes place on the eve of Knowledge Day, and we want to remind young people that health is one of the main values," said Vadim Devyatovsky.-0-
