The admission campaign to vocational education institutions of Belarus begins today. As reported to BelTA correspondent by the press secretary of the Ministry of Education, Yulia Borodun, 158 vocational education institutions will accept documents from applicants.
The choice is very wide – young men and women can choose one or two out of 262 professions. In addition, 45 educational institutions of other levels, implementing vocational education programs, are admitting students for working professions.
For the first time, training has been opened for in-demand professions ("mechanic for repair of agricultural machinery and equipment", "tractor driver-machinist of agricultural production", "automobile driver") at Pinsk State Industrial-Pedagogical College. Also for the first time, enrollment for the profession "assembler of tires and tire-pneumatic clutches" will be conducted at Gomel State Vocational-Technical College of Mechanical Engineering.
A total of 32.6 thousand people are planned to be admitted, including 32.4 thousand people at the expense of the budget. At the same time, it is planned to enroll 30.3 thousand people for full-time education, of which 19.1 thousand people are on the basis of general basic education, 10.5 thousand people are on the basis of general secondary education, and 700 people are on the basis of special education. Part-time education is also offered (1 thousand people) and evening classes (1.3 thousand people).
In order to improve the structure of training, taking into account the changing needs of regional labor markets, it is planned to cease admission for 183 in-demand professions in 2016 and open training for 142 new professions for individual vocational education institutions, the press secretary emphasized.
