Reminder: from 1 December to 1 March, vehicles must be equipped with winter tires on all wheels.

  From December 1, drivers are obliged to replace summer tires with winter ones. This rule applies to all vehicles with a total mass of up to 3.5 tons, passenger cars and trucks/passenger vehicles over 3.5 tons, as well as buses up to 5 tons. Violation of this requirement will incur a fine of up to 1 base unit (40 rubles); for repeated violation within a year, the fine will be from 2 to 5 base units (80-200 rubles).

  Winter tires for motor vehicles intended for use on icy or snowy road surfaces are marked with a symbol in the form of a mountain peak with three peaks and a snowflake inside it, or with the markings "M+S", "M&S", "M.S", "M S", or "All seasons", and must have a residual tread depth of at least 4 mm.

  For the upcoming cold weather, it is necessary not only to prepare the vehicle but also to switch to a winter, calmer, and more careful driving style. Sharp movements and maneuvers should be avoided, especially near pedestrian crossings, on curves, and on exposed sections of roads. Choose the safest speed mode, taking into account the condition of the roadway and weather conditions. Increase the following distance and ensure all occupants are wearing seatbelts.
