On July 5, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The population of Vitebsk during the "Slavianski Bazaar" festival may increase by almost one and a half times. About 150 thousand guests - participants and tourists - are expected in the regional center during the arts festival, the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Igor Evseev, informed journalists today, BELTA correspondent reports.
Law enforcement agencies will switch to an enhanced duty regime during the festival. Police officers, including those from other regions, will be involved in protecting public order and ensuring the safety of residents and guests of the city, as during previous festivals. The number of patrols on the city streets will double. At the same time, equal attention will be paid to maintaining public order both in the venues of mass events - in the city center, and in residential areas, Igor Evseev emphasized.
Video surveillance cameras help to promptly monitor the situation in the city center. 115 video surveillance cameras have been installed in Vitebsk, 60 of which are directly connected to the duty officer's console of the Internal Affairs Directorate and broadcast events on streets and squares in real time.
As Igor Evseev noted, the measures to ensure public order at the current festival will not differ from those applied in previous years. They have proven effective, and the public perceives them positively, understanding that this is done primarily for the safety of citizens. -0-
