On July 20, Minsk /Anna Kot - BELTA/. The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus will introduce modified banknotes of Br5,000 and Br100 denominations into circulation, the BELTA correspondent was informed at the National Bank's Information Department. "For the purpose of enhancing security features and improving visual security elements on the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus banknotes of the 2000 design with a denomination of Br5,000, and to reduce the cost of manufacturing banknotes of Br100 denomination, banknotes of the 2000 design, modification of 2011, will be put into circulation: on July 25, 2011 - with a denomination of Br5,000, and on September 5, 2011 - with a denomination of Br100," the National Bank reported. The image of the obverse and reverse sides, the colour scheme, and the size of the new modified banknotes remain the same as those of the banknotes of the corresponding denominations of the 2000 design. The banknotes of Br5,000 and Br100 denominations of the 2000 design, modification of 2011, have the following differences. For the Br5,000 denomination banknote, instead of a transparent polymer thread with the text "NB RB" in direct and inverted image, a metallised "windowed" security thread with segments emerging on the paper surface in the form of shiny rectangles forming a dashed line has been incorporated into the paper. When viewed against the light, the security thread appears as a solid dark stripe. For the Br100 denomination banknote, the security thread is absent in the paper mass of the banknote. "The modified banknotes of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus with denominations of Br5,000 and Br100 being put into circulation are legal tender of the Republic of Belarus and are mandatory for acceptance at their face value in all types of payments without any restrictions," the Information Department of the National Bank noted. They added that the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus banknotes of the 2000 design with denominations of Br5,000 and Br100 remain in circulation on the territory of the republic alongside the modified banknotes of the National Bank. -0-
