From January 1, 2015, the circulation of National Bank of Belarus banknotes of Br50 denomination, образца 2000, as well as banknotes of the specified denomination, модификации 2010, will be discontinued. This was reported to BELTA by the Information and Public Relations Department of the National Bank.

This decision was made by Resolution of the Board of the National Bank of September 5, 2014, No. 560, based on the inexpediency of further use of the specified banknotes in cash circulation and with the aim of reducing state expenses for their production, the regulator's department noted.

As explained by the National Bank, until July 1, 2015, Br50 banknotes are subject to acceptance in all types of payments by all business entities, including the country's banks.

From July 1, 2015, banks and business entities will cease issuing the specified banknotes to individuals, including as change. At the same time, banks will accept Br50 banknotes from business entities until September 1, 2015.

Br50 banknotes can be exchanged without restrictions and without charging commission fees, in any amount divisible by Br100. From July 1 to December 31, 2015 inclusive, this can be done at the National Bank and the country's banks. And from January 1 to June 30, 2016 inclusive, it will only be possible at the National Bank.

From July 1, 2016, Br50 banknotes will be withdrawn from circulation and will be considered invalid.-0-
