On September 9, Minsk / Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA /. The National Bank expects currency to appear in exchange offices a couple of days after the additional session on the currency-stock exchange. This was stated today in an interview with national TV channels by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, Taras Nadolny, BELTA correspondent reports. Taras Nadolny noted that at the additional session of the currency-stock exchange, banks will be able to buy currency for exchange offices without restrictions. When setting the exchange rates of foreign currencies in exchange offices, banks will be guided by the rates at which they bought this foreign currency at the additional session. According to the representative of the National Bank, for the first time, until a clear benchmark of the equilibrium exchange rate is established at the additional session of the currency-stock exchange, banks will operate on turnover and will be guided by the exchange rate of the additional session when forming prices. "Even if they do not buy currency directly for exchange offices on the exchange, but set rates guided by the additional session, this will stimulate the inflow of currency into exchange offices," he is confident. Taras Nadolny noted that, according to the National Bank's estimates, currency should appear in exchange offices a couple of days after the additional session. "I believe that after a couple of adjustment days, currency will appear in exchange offices, and subsequently, when there is a more balanced exchange rate at the additional session and there are no significant fluctuations during 1-2 trading sessions, banks will replenish exchange offices through the additional trading session," said the Deputy Head of the National Bank. Answering journalists' questions about what the National Bank expects the market exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble to be, Taras Nadolny noted that it is not yet possible to give an accurate assessment. "The exchange rate will be higher than the current official rate for some period of time - this is normal practice for this type of instrument," he stressed. In the future, it is expected that the exchange rate will begin to decline and gradually stabilize. "I think that our maximum intervention rate will not differ significantly from today's official rate," the expert summarized. -0-
