"The main event being prepared is the National Day of the Republic of Belarus, which will take place on September 9. It includes visits by official delegations and a large cultural programme utilising not only our pavilion but also the central Expo 2015 site," noted Alexander Guryanov.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has planned a business programme for the six months of the exhibition. In particular, it is planned to hold Belarusian Economy Day and a specialised event focused on innovation and scientific-technical cooperation, which will be held under the auspices of the State Committee on Science and Technology.
The exhibition will feature not only Belarus's universal thematic exposition but also the most comprehensive information about each region of the country. "Throughout the six months, delegations from the regions of Belarus – the six oblasts and the city of Minsk – will be working at the national pavilion. For several days, active presentations of regional cooperation, regional projects, and visits by delegations are planned, including the development of contacts related to twin-city ties with Italy and regional cooperation between the two countries," explained the Deputy Minister.
In addition, creative groups, both professional and amateur, will be actively performing.
Expo, or World Expo, is the largest international exhibition for showcasing technological and scientific achievements. It was first held in 1851. The motto of Expo 2015 in Milan, which will run from May 1 to October 31, will be "Feed the Planet. Energy for Life." The main theme will be food. Attention will be paid to the influence of food culture on ethnic traditions, agricultural development, biodiversity, and ecology. Approximately 150 countries have confirmed their participation, with 10 international organisations and 30 corporations planning to take part.
