Due to the reduction in daylight hours, falling air temperatures, and precipitation, road conditions may become more challenging. Rain, wet snow, and frost are expected as early as today. In such weather, all road users must exercise extreme caution and attentiveness.
Drivers should avoid sudden manoeuvres and be prepared for pedestrians to appear unexpectedly on the roadway. Pedestrians must use reflective elements, cross the road only at designated crossings, and ensure that all vehicles are able to stop. To minimise negative trends in road safety, the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct a nationwide preventive campaign titled "Don't Be Invisible on the Road!" from 20 to 30 October. Its primary focus is to prevent accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists, and it aims to remind everyone of the importance of using reflective elements and high-visibility vests during dark hours.
Throughout the country, traffic police patrols will be deployed near accident-prone road sections and pedestrian crossings, monitoring compliance with traffic regulations by pedestrians and cyclists, especially during dark hours. Increased attention will be paid to individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Additionally, until 30 October, the traffic police are conducting a series of preventive measures to enhance the safety of passenger transportation in irregular services (by bus and taxi).
Remember that all occupants of a vehicle must wear seatbelts, and children must be transported in special restraint systems appropriate for their weight and height. Ensuring children's safety is the responsibility of adults. Instil in them rules of safe behaviour through your personal example.
