From 11 May to 1 June, the Lepel district will host the annual republican preventive campaign "Do Not Leave Children Alone!", dedicated to the International Day of Families and International Children's Day.
The main goal of the campaign is to draw attention to the problem of children's mischief with fire and child fatalities in fires, to reduce the number of emergencies involving children, and to ensure their overall safety at home, on the street, during outdoor recreation, and at water bodies. The main focus during the campaign will be on preventive work with parents.
As part of the first stage of the campaign, dedicated to the International Day of Families, large-scale events will be held from 11 to 15 May at venues with a high concentration of people where parents spend time with their children. "Photo zones" and "Let's Learn Safety Rules Together" play areas will be organised, where parents and children can participate in contests, quizzes, and games.
During the second stage of the campaign, from 16 to 24 May, the focus will be on working with parents of preschool and primary school-aged children, as well as young and expectant mothers. For this purpose, training sessions aimed at reducing child fatalities and injuries will be held at the "Maternity School" at the Healthcare Institution "Lepel Central District Hospital". In educational institutions – early development schools, out-of-school education centres, fitness and health complexes, and sports schools – child safety issues will be discussed with parents. In preschool institutions and primary classes of general education institutions, parent-teacher meetings will be held with the participation of Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) employees on the topic "Preventing Child Injuries – Teaching Children Safety Rules!".
The third stage of the campaign will take place from 27 to 30 May in large families and family-type orphanages raising underage preschool and primary school-aged children. A family sports festival "Mom, Dad, We – Strong in Safety!" is also planned.
The campaign will conclude on 1 June, International Children's Day, which is traditionally organised in the City Park of Lepel.
The event will feature thematic contests, games, concert programmes and creative performances, educational and play areas, demonstrations of emergency rescue equipment and tools, fire extinguisher and fire alarm device operation, first aid masterclasses, and demonstration performances by MES units, among other activities.
