It often happens that during fishing, amateur anglers find illegally set fishing gear, discover fish in them, and no one is around. A person may have a momentary impulse to remove the prohibited fishing gear and take the fish for themselves, either taking the removed gear with them or leaving it in the water body.

Regarding this matter, the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora reminds citizens that according to paragraph 6 of part 4 of chapter 6 of the Rules for Amateur Fishing, it is PROHIBITED for individuals to remove commercial fishing gear, fishing gear prohibited for use in amateur fishing, and fish caught by such fishing gear, which they discover in fishing grounds.
In case amateur anglers discover prohibited fishing gear during fishing, they are earnestly requested to report it to the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate by phone at 8 (02132) 34359 and not to attempt to remove the fishing gear from the water themselves, let alone try to extract fish from it.
