Often, during fishing, amateur anglers find illegal fishing gear that has been set, and also discover fish in them with no one around. A person may have a momentary desire to remove the illegal fishing gear and take the fish for themselves, and either take the removed fishing gear with them or leave it in the water body.

Regarding this matter, the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora reminds citizens that, in accordance with paragraph 6 of part 4 of chapter 6 of the Rules for Amateur Fishing, it is FORBIDDEN for individuals to remove commercial fishing gear, fishing gear prohibited for use in amateur fishing, and fish caught with such fishing gear, which they discover in fishing grounds.
In case amateur anglers discover illegal fishing gear during fishing, they are earnestly requested to report it to the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate by phone at 8 (02132) 34359 and not to attempt to remove the fishing gear from the water themselves, and even less so to attempt to remove fish from them.
