In order to promptly respond to emergencies in ecosystems and minimize their consequences, the Lepel district unit of the State System for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations conducted tactical and special exercises, in which units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Lepel garrison and employees of the state forestry institution "Lepel Forest Management" took part.
In order to promptly respond to emergencies in ecosystems and minimize their consequences, the Lepel district unit of the State System for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations conducted tactical and special exercises, in which units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Lepel garrison and employees of the state forestry institution "Lepel Forest Management" took part.
According to the scenario received by the operational management center, a dry vegetation fire occurred near the central district hospital and the Lepel RES of Lepel town, covering an area of 1.5 hectares. Strong winds exacerbated the situation, and a fallen tree blocking the passage was a complicating factor.
The following were involved in the exercises: the operational control headquarters for emergency response of the Lepel District Department of Emergency Situations, the operational group of the commission for emergency situations under the Lepel District Executive Committee, forces and means of the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs, healthcare, a consolidated mobile unit for extinguishing forest and peat fires, and other interested parties.
Once again, the winners of the 2020 regional competitions among forest fire fighting teams of the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association, employees of the state forestry institution "Lepel Forest Management," demonstrated excellent skill and combat cohesion in extinguishing dry vegetation fires.
Summing up the results, the Deputy Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, and also the Chairman of the District Commission for Emergency Situations, Yevgeny Alexandrovich Yasko, gave a positive assessment of the tactical and special exercises and the readiness of the Lepel district unit of the Vitebsk territorial subsystem of the State System for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations for actions in extinguishing forest and peat fires and dry vegetation fires.
