The event will take place from April 14 to 21. The Ministry of Forestry is traditionally the organiser. This year, the campaign is dedicated to the Year of Small Motherland and the restoration of forests damaged by the widespread infestation of pest insects. The main goal of the event is to attract broad public attention to the issues of the forest fund, promote a careful attitude towards one of the country's main natural resources, and enhance the ecological, economic, and social role of forests.
Anyone willing can participate in the campaign. To do so, simply contact your nearest forestry enterprise or forest management unit. The country's forestry institutions will provide volunteers with the necessary tools and planting material. For this year's campaign, the country's forestry enterprises have prepared over 17 million units of planting material, which will be used to create new forests on an area exceeding 3.7 thousand hectares.
"Belarusians readily join the campaign. Many plan to participate in the event with their entire families. The event is also actively supported by representatives of businesses, public associations, mass media, state administration bodies, regulatory agencies, the parliamentary corps, and others," the press service stated.
The "Forest Week" campaign will be held for the 11th time this year. Every year, an increasing number of Belarusians participate in the event. In 2016, 81,000 people supported the campaign, and in 2017, it was 82,500.
