The event, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of a prominent Belarusian public and political figure of the second half of the 20th century, will begin with the grand opening of an Alley of Glory to the heroes of Rossony Region in the district centre, located near the Museum of Combat Comradeship. Participants of the event – representatives of district and regional authorities, local residents, and guests – will walk along seven granite memorial signs. These signs immortalise the names of Heroes of the Soviet Union S.I. Zhukov, A.K. Shelepen, V.A. Khomchenovsky, P.I. Rubis, as well as Heroes of Socialist Labour A.S. Goretskaya and T.I. Khmelkova. All attendees will honour their memory with a minute of silence.
The event will continue at the museum. Konstantin Polevechko, a 92-year-old local resident and veteran of the Great Patriotic War who fought with Masherov in the same unit, will share his memories of their shared combat days. Alla Traschenko, a pensioner who headed the "Rossony" collective farm in the 1970s, will talk about curious details of peaceful daily life. A multimedia presentation "Rossony Region in the Fate of P.M. Masherov", an archival photo exhibition, and presentations by participants of the scientific and practical conference "Rossony Region: History, Culture, People" will help to form a complete impression of this multifaceted personality. The conference will bring together representatives from the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Military Scientific Society under the Ministry of Defence, VSU named after P.M. Masherov, and Polotsk State University.

Pyotr Mironovich Masherov was born in 1918 in the village of Shirki, Sennensky District. In August 1941, he organised and led the underground resistance in Rossony; from April 1942, he was the commander of the N.A. Shchors partisan detachment; from March 1943, he served as the commissar of the K.K. Rokossovsky partisan brigade. He was a member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) from March 1943. He was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus from 1965, and a candidate member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1966. He was a Hero of the Soviet Union (1944) and a Hero of Socialist Labour (1978). He was a prominent Soviet party official who enjoyed immense popularity and support among the population.
