A namesake green route has been established in the village of Bogino, Braslav district, the Centre for Environmental Solutions informed BELTA.
The 700-metre ecological trail runs along Lake Boginskoe. It is equipped with information points, each featuring a stand with a detailed description of local flora and fauna, as well as environmental tips and recommendations. Visitors can walk the trail with a guided tour or independently. "A smartphone will make the walk more engaging. It is enough to scan the QR code on the stand, and the user will be directed to a website where they can hear the singing of local birds, and view insects and plants," the organisation explained.
The trail was created jointly by the Centre for Environmental Solutions and the local parish of the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God, with financial support from the international coalition "Clean Baltic". The local parish will be responsible for the upkeep of the new facility.
The creation of the trail is a continuation of the Centre for Environmental Solutions' work in the region, where the organisation, together with local authorities, has been implementing the EU project "Braslav District – the First Climate-Neutral Municipality in Belarus" for several years. Its goal is to reduce emissions by 20% by 2020, and to balance greenhouse gas emissions and absorption by 2030.
