From April 8 to 17, the main stage of the republican preventive campaign "A Home Without Violence!" is being held in the Lepel district, as the problem of domestic abusers remains highly relevant in our society.

As part of the campaign, a field session of the district court, led by the Chairman of the Lepel District Court, Mikhail Yurchenko, was held at the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs. Cases of administrative offenses against individuals who committed domestic violence were considered.

We should note right away that the chain of events for those present at the court was similar: they drank alcohol – caused a scandal – ended up at the police station – and found themselves at a court hearing. But now, they are sure, such adventures will be remembered for a long time.

The circumstances of one case of administrative offense are in accordance with Part 2 of Article 10.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences. A man lives in one of the villages of the Lepel district with his wife, with whom he had a scandal a few days ago. He used obscene language, shouted, and threatened his wife with physical violence, causing her mental suffering. She did not tolerate it for long and called the police. It should be added that the offender has been married to his wife for over 30 years, and his wife had not previously contacted the District Department of Internal Affairs.

- Why did you commit such actions? - Mikhail Grigoryevich asks.

- I was told that day that my wife was cheating, but I didn't even think she would call the police because of our quarrel. This will not happen again. Forgive me, -- the man says with remorse.

The citizen had been brought to justice several times last year for traffic violations, and had also been previously convicted.

The court ruled to find the detainee guilty of committing the offense and to impose an administrative penalty in the form of administrative arrest.

The basis of another case considered by the court is a similar situation. A man born in 1985 lives with his elderly mother. He is not married and has no children; one might say his mother is the closest person in his life.

This citizen has already been brought to justice several times in accordance with Part 2 of Article 10.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences for similar actions. In addition, he is registered with a narcologist due to alcohol dependence.

-- Well, I don't drink all the time.

I do odd jobs, I can have a drink after work. But I admit my guilt," the man began his story.

-- What happened that evening? – the court chairman asked.

-- My mother told me before: "If you drink, I'll call the police." Then I came home from work, changed. I met with Andrey, we drank 0.5 liters of vodka between us, then another 0.7 liters. When I returned home for cigarettes, my mother called the police.

-- And that's all? Why do you say you admit your guilt?

-- To get a smaller fine.

From the mother's explanation, her son caused a scandal at 11:15 PM, demanded money for alcohol, grabbed her by the sweater around the throat, used obscene language, and caused her mental anguish. Then he took 15 rubles and went outside, which is why she called the police.

At the hearing, everyone tried to convince the court of their remorse. But... there are victims, a report to the police, a protocol has been drawn up – it's time to answer according to the law.

Mikhail Grigoryevich reminded those present that the law provides for punishment for any offense.

Anyone can make a mistake. Loved ones are usually ready to forgive a mistake, but when it becomes a pattern, any patience runs out.

Unfortunately, some citizens do not want to lead a law-abiding life and, through their behavior, not only disturb their loved ones but also subject them to psychological and physical violence and endanger their lives. Children suffer. This is unacceptable. In our state, domestic violence is under control, and measures are being taken to prevent such incidents.

However, very often, victims of domestic violence do not report to law enforcement agencies in the initial stages of the family aggressor's influence on them. And no matter how hard the police try to identify problematic families, it is impossible to do so without the help of others. Witnesses to such situations – relatives, teachers, medical and social workers, neighbors – should not remain indifferent. Unfortunately, it is often only after a tragedy that people start saying they suspected something was wrong, saw bruises on the woman's face, the children's fear of their father. It is important to raise the alarm at the first signs. Only together can citizens bring family troublemakers to justice.
