19 September, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. In Belarus, the refinancing rate may be increased from October 1. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Chairperson of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, Nadezhda Ermakova.
Answering a question about whether an increase in the refinancing rate is planned in the near future, the head of the National Bank said: "It will depend on how inflation goes. I think we will have to raise it. As soon as we get new inflation statistics, we will decide on the refinancing rate."
Nadezhda Ermakova recalled that the refinancing rate was last increased from September 14 to 30% per annum. "We will consider it again in a week. It is possible that from October 1, and most likely, we will have to raise it," stated the Chairperson of the Board of the National Bank.
At the same time, she did not specify how much the refinancing rate might be increased. "I cannot say this, as it depends on what the inflation will be," said Nadezhda Ermakova, adding that the National Bank will also take into account the impact of the refinancing rate on the economy's creditworthiness.-0-
