From August 7 to August 16 of the current year, preventive measures are being carried out in the district aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving drivers in a state of intoxication, as well as preventing violations of the Road Traffic Regulations involving intoxicated drivers, under the conditional name "No to Drunk Driving!"

The problem of road traffic accidents caused by intoxicated drivers remains topical. Due to the fault of drunk drivers, 2 road traffic accidents occurred in the Lepel district during the elapsed period of the current year, resulting in 2 people being injured.

The State Automobile Inspectorate staff are carrying out extensive work to detain and bring to legal accountability drivers operating vehicles while intoxicated. In the seven months of 2018, 65 drivers operating vehicles while intoxicated were detained in the Lepel district.

Despite serious penalties, which range from 50 to 100 basic units and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for three years, some individuals are not deterred and commit repeat violations of the law, driving vehicles without a license, and moreover, while intoxicated. They are also not concerned by the fact that criminal prosecution is provided for such a violation, as well as the confiscation of the vehicle.

Of course, our traditions are not distinguished by sobriety. However, before sitting down at a table with alcohol, consider whether you will need to drive. Assess your capabilities so as not to get behind the wheel while intoxicated later. After a heavy feast and consuming about 250 grams of vodka, an average person needs at least nine hours to sober up. If the dose is doubled, the time is also doubled; a further doubling can lead to a fatal outcome.

Every decent and law-abiding citizen will not drive after consuming alcoholic beverages and will warn others about the inadmissibility of driving a vehicle while intoxicated. They will also not ride as a passenger if the driver is drunk.
