On 21.10.2020, employees of the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora detained an unemployed resident of Polotsk city on Lake Kakisino (a local nature reserve) in Lepel district. He illegally harvested 431 individuals of narrow-clawed/long-clawed crayfish using a diving suit and a flashlight during nighttime. The damage caused to the environment amounted to 17,455 rubles. The actions of this citizen constitute an offence under Part 4 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. An investigative task force from the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs was summoned to the scene. An investigation is underway.
