The mass fur hunting season has closed, the hunting grounds are empty, and this has been exploited by fans of "quiet" and particularly cruel hunting – so-called snare poachers. They set snares made of steel cable on animal trails. As a rule, hoofed animals get caught in them and, trying to break free, die from strangulation.
An roe deer caught in a snare was discovered by inspectors of the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora in a thicket in the village of Fatyn, Lepel district. The deceased roe deer had two embryos, so the damage caused is estimated at 360 base units, or more than 9 thousand rubles. A decision is being made on initiating criminal proceedings.
