Illegal logging is defined as the felling, removal, or destruction of woody and shrub vegetation without permits; logging of species other than those specified in the logging permit or order; logging exceeding the volume indicated in the logging permit or order (taking into account the permissible deviation of the actually harvested timber volume from that specified in the logging permit or order, as established by the republican body of state administration for forestry).
A fine for felling trees without a permit can reach 30 basic units in commercial forests and 50 basic units in conservation, recreational, health-improving, and protective forests.
