The Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora reminds that, in accordance with the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus, the following is recognised:
Illegal logging – felling, removal, or destruction of woody and shrub vegetation without permits; felling of species other than those specified in the logging permit or order; felling exceeding the volume indicated in the logging permit or order (taking into account the permissible deviation of the actually harvested timber volume from that specified in the logging permit or order, as established by the republican body of state administration for forestry).
A fine for felling trees without a permit can reach 30 base units in exploitative forests and 50 base units in conservation, recreational, health-improving, and protective forests.
