The local fund for the support and development of arts announces a creative competition for feature film scripts. The author of the best work will receive a prize of Br10 thousand. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the competition organiser, the fund's founder, and producer Alexander Myshalov.
Authors are offered four themes for future films to choose from. The plot may be based on events from the sporting and personal life of Olga Korbut or Alexander Medved, the history of the club "Dynamo-Minsk", which became the USSR champion in 1982, or the creative path of the VIA "Pesniary" and its members.
"These stories have vivid, charismatic characters and dramatic potential," explained Alexander Myshalov. "The path of 'Dynamo-Minsk' to the gold medals in 1982 is a gift for a playwright, a ready-made plot where all that remains is to choose the main character. Alexander Medved's sports career has so much confrontation and struggle (in the literal sense of the word) that it is enough for the plot of more than one film. This will appeal not only to men but also to women who need strong men so much."
The story of Olga Korbut, according to the producer, is also full of vicissitudes and unexpected turns. "She entered the international history of gymnastics. Besides sports, she is, in my opinion, a person with deep inner drama, an interesting person," he said. As for the VIA "Pesniary", it is a captivating success story of a male polyphonic musical group.
"All these themes can be localised into vivid scripts based on events of a short period or local history, but they can also form the basis of a long story, so we are thinking about a series for the future," the producer noted.
According to him, the main requirements for the scripts are an original plot based on real events and the potential for creating a feature series. The intended duration of the films is from 90 to 120 minutes.
The minimum remuneration for the script author based on the competition results will be Br10 thousand, regardless of the project's fate. "In addition, after the project is launched, the author will be able to continue working on the film as part of the film crew and, upon signing a contract, receive Br5 thousand after the launch of production and the same amount upon completion of production," the competition organiser noted.
