This was stated today by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting on current socio-economic development issues of Belarus, according to a BELTA correspondent. "There should be no drastic moves or actions. Finance and money do not like turmoil and abrupt changes. And people have probably already grabbed everything they wanted. Therefore, let's build carefully and purposefully the policy that we must adhere to now," said Alexander Lukashenko. According to the head of state, both the government and the National Bank did not react in time to the global trends. "We foresaw even before the presidential elections that we would be pressured purposefully and methodically, destabilizing the situation. This is what happened: first in the currency market, then in the food market, and then it exploded in the metro – a whole chain," said the President. "It is regrettable that representatives of the National Bank and the government have gathered today at the President's and are waiting for some additional decisions. Can't you decide, agree, and make a coordinated decision yourselves, even if it's unpopular? The President has said his word, why are you waiting for further instructions?" noted the Belarusian leader. Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that all economic problems can be overcome by our own efforts. "When they squeezed (the currency market. - Ed. "And there are already good shifts in the currency market. It's just a question of whether we should hurry and agitate people. Addressing the participants of the meeting, Alexander Lukashenko stressed: "People cannot be pressured, although they are primarily the ones who created this situation.
