A very tense period has begun for the rescuers of our district, as the number of fires caused by the burning of last year's rubbish is constantly increasing. In order to improve the operational situation, employees of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations conduct daily raids to prevent the burning of dry vegetation and the lighting of fires in prohibited areas.
Every year, with the onset of spring, the number of fires due to the burning of dry vegetation increases. Any carelessness with fire during this period leads to the destruction of forests, residential buildings, outbuildings, and sometimes to loss of life.
To prevent simple plot cleaning from turning into a tragedy, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations remind citizens of the rules for safely lighting fires on household plots. This should only be done in calm weather. A bonfire should be no closer than 10 meters from buildings, 20 meters from forests, and 30 meters from straw.
Rescuers also talk about responsibility for burning dry vegetation, grass in the field, as well as stubble and post-harvest residues in fields, or for failure to take measures to extinguish fires, as well as for lighting fires in prohibited areas. They provide examples where the carelessness of citizens led to them receiving burns, and in some cases, to a fatal outcome.
During the raid, all citizens are given educational visual materials on fire safety.
