Lukashenko visits the motorcycle and bicycle plant

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is visiting a production site on Partizansky Avenue in Minsk today, where "MotoVeloZavod" LLC and "Motovelo" OJSC are located, a BELTA correspondent reports.

The Head of State will be briefed on the development prospects of domestic motorcycle and bicycle technology and proposals for the further use of the "Motovelo" OJSC production site.

Alexander Lukashenko will tour the enterprise's premises, including visiting the motorcycle and bicycle plant building where bicycle production is located.

The President announced his intention to visit "Motovelo" following a meeting on the development of domestic motorcycle and bicycle technology held on February 16. At that time, Alexander Lukashenko demanded the development of a clear, comprehensive plan for the use and development of the "Motovelo" production site and the further operation of the motorcycle and bicycle plant.

The Head of State emphasized that the motorcycle and bicycle plant must not be lost under any circumstances. "The foundations of our economic policy have just been approved at the All-Belarusian People's Congress. Therefore, if anyone thinks that we will now sell this enterprise to someone after privatisation, and then close it or, roughly speaking, only produce bicycle spokes here, while the investor transfers all competencies somewhere to Italy, Russia or China, do not even count on that," warned the Belarusian leader. He noted that the motorcycle and bicycle plant is among such enterprises as MAZ, BELAZ, MTZ, Gomselmash, which are considered the face of machine-building Belarus, its brands.

The motorcycle and bicycle plant is a manufacturer of domestic motorcycle and bicycle technology. The enterprise has secured the historical trademarks "Aist" and "Minsk" and the newly created "A1" and "Kraken". All this is done at the historical production site at 8 Partizansky Avenue, on premises and with equipment leased from the liquidating "Motovelo" OJSC. In the five years since the establishment of the motorcycle and bicycle plant, the model range has increased from 20 to 120 bicycle models, and from 4 to 9 motorcycle models. The number of employees has grown from 70 in 2016 to 120 in 2020.
