Vladimir Makei noted the active and effective work of the UNICEF office in Belarus under the leadership of Rashed Mustafa Sarwar. The parties discussed the most pressing areas of cooperation between Belarus and UNICEF, including child safety in cyberspace, assistance to children victims of violence, and children with disabilities. They also confirmed that the growing volume of funding for UNICEF country programmes in Belarus demonstrates the high potential for cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs highly commended the work of the UNICEF Representative in Belarus in engaging government bodies, public associations, business, and private partners in cooperation.
Vladimir Makei thanked Rashed Mustafa Sarwar for the effective and prompt support provided by the UNICEF office to Belarusian medical institutions, schools, and boarding schools during the active spread of coronavirus. For instance, the UNICEF office launched large-scale work with the involvement of numerous partners, which allowed for the collection of $1.58 million in a short period, used to purchase necessary materials and equipment.
For his personal contribution to strengthening and expanding cooperation between Belarus and UNICEF, Rashed Mustafa Sarwar was awarded the badge of distinction of the diplomatic service bodies of Belarus "Partnership".
