The mission of observers from the CIS for the presidential elections in Belarus will be headed by the Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the CIS, Sergey Lebedev. His candidacy was agreed upon today at a meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth Member States to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS in Minsk, according to a BELTA correspondent.

His candidacy was agreed upon today at a meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth Member States to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS in Minsk, according to a BELTA correspondent.

The process of forming the mission is currently underway. The CIS Executive Committee has sent invitations to the Commonwealth countries requesting them to nominate their representatives. It is planned that CIS observers will work in all regions of the country. On election day, they will be present at polling stations from the moment they open until the completion of the vote count.
