The harvest campaign in the Vitebsk region is almost complete: 99% of the areas, or 343.3 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops, have been harvested, as reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee.

Sharkovshchyna, Miory, Rossony, Postavy, and Verkhnedvinsk districts have fully completed the harvest. As of the morning of September 17, the remaining districts of the region had 5 thousand hectares of fields left to harvest. "This is practically a day or two of harvesting, so we plan to complete the harvest entirely this week," stated the committee.

The total grain yield amounted to 1 million 70 thousand tons of grain, with an average yield of 31.2 centners per hectare. The largest contribution to the region's harvest came from the Orsha and Vitebsk districts, which had the richest harvest this year – over 42 centners per hectare. The former, with a yield of 125.6 thousand tons of grain, confidently holds the lead in grain yield among the regions of the oblast, while the latter, for the first time in recorded history, managed to grow and harvest 118 thousand tons of grain.

Currently, the main efforts of the agricultural workers are focused on sowing winter grain crops. 75.6 thousand hectares have already been sown (30% of the target). Corn has been harvested from 10% of the areas, and its mass procurement for feed has begun.

The harvesting of spring rapeseed is nearing completion. 89% of the areas, or 27.2 thousand hectares, have been harvested. 35.8 thousand tons of rapeseed were threshed with an average yield of 13.2 centners per hectare. Agricultural workers in Sharkovshchyna, Postavy, and Glubokoe districts have fully completed this stage of work.

The best rural workers will be honoured at the regional festival "Dazhynki" this year in Vitebsk. The planned date is September 26.
