27 November, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Violations of labour protection legislation at enterprises and organisations in Vitebsk district are systemic. This opinion was expressed to a BELTA correspondent by Svetlana Golovey, Chief State Labour Inspector of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the State Labour Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
In January-October 2012, six cases of serious worker injuries occurred at enterprises and organisations in the district – two more than in the same period last year. Such incidents took place at the unitary enterprise of housing and communal services of Vitebsk district "Vitraykomkhoz", the agricultural production cooperative "Olgovskoye", the limited liability company "Alfa", and the open joint-stock companies "Rudakovo" and "Lipovtsy".
Over the past period, state labour inspectors conducted 16 inspections in Vitebsk district for compliance with labour protection legislation, issuing 14 directives. In particular, the operation of 27 units of production equipment was prohibited, and 13 workers performing high-risk jobs without undergoing training and knowledge checks on labour protection were suspended from production activities. 13 officials of enterprises and organisations were brought to administrative responsibility in the form of fines totalling Br9.6 million.
"Overall, violations of labour protection norms and rules in the inspected organisations of the district are systemic. The state of labour protection is not analysed at enterprises, and newly introduced regulatory legal documents are not studied. This indicates insufficient attention from the management and specialists of enterprises to the functioning of the labour protection management system, the possibilities of managing production risks, and the planning and financing of measures to improve working conditions and labour protection," stated Svetlana Golovey.-0-
