22 August, Minsk /BELTA/. Belarusian notaries continue to fulfil their social functions after the reform carried out in early 2014, BELTA was informed by Elena Radabolskaya, Deputy Head of the Notary and Civil Registry Office Department of the Ministry of Justice.
"A significant category of socially vulnerable population groups – veterans, pensioners, disabled persons, and others – are exempt from paying notary fees for services rendered, particularly for the certification of wills, powers of attorney, and consultations," noted the representative of the Ministry of Justice. In the first half of the year, over 73,000 notarial acts were performed with the application of benefits. In total, in the first half of 2014, notaries across the country performed over 734,000 acts.
Elena Radabolskaya also reported that in Minsk, from 22 August, Notary Office No. 1 of the Oktyabrsky District will begin operating in a new building. "The premises have all the necessary conditions for proper service to citizens and legal entities, observance of the confidentiality of notarial acts, and ensuring the security of documents," she emphasised.
There are 208 notary offices and 40 notary bureaus operating in Belarus, employing around 1,000 people. In Minsk, 187 notaries work in 25 notary offices and 26 bureaus.-0-
