New "outfit" for Shkolnaya Street

The road workers undertook to perform the entire cycle of work from design to handover to the customer.

Laying asphalt pavement is a routine task for road workers. For this, they have all the necessary machinery, and importantly, their own asphalt concrete plant, which can produce up to 700 tons of asphalt concrete mix per shift. On the carriageway, asphalt with crushed stone content with an average thickness of four centimeters was laid on the old asphalt pavement, and on the sidewalk – asphalt on clean gravel with a thickness of five centimeters. A lot of asphalt was laid under the parking lots. Since a new location was allocated for them, the pavement there consists of two layers, six and four centimeters thick – a total of a ten-centimeter asphalt layer.

The most labor-intensive operation was the installation of concrete curbs. Such a block weighs 80 kilograms. Each had to be moved and installed manually! Road workers Arkady Dragun and Anatoly Kostyukovich coped excellently with the task.

The chief engineer of RCDU-34, Nikolai Sadovnikov, spoke about an incident where a cable providing telephone communication for the entire microdistrict – 200 pairs of wires! – was almost damaged. It had to be buried another half a meter deeper. Therefore, subsequently, communication technicians went with equipment, checked where the cables were laid, and placed markers. In those places, road workers did not use excavators but used shovels. The gas cover – a special plug crane used to shut off gas supply in mains in case of an accident or emergency – also had to be buried deeper. This was already handled by the gas workers.

In addition to the aforementioned employees, the management of RCDU-34 noted the motor grader operator Alexander Khanyak, asphalt paver operator Leonid Yarshov, and others – an excellent team was assembled.

The parking areas turned out to be excellent and convenient – spacious, with multiple entrances and exits. There is no marking on them yet, but according to approximate estimates, the first one can accommodate up to ten cars, and the second one – up to twenty. Now the residents of house No. 5 do not need to crowd their cars in the yard in the evenings, they no longer need to wade through mud and then carry it into their apartments on their shoes – you get out of the car onto clean asphalt. By the way, in September, only a few meters of sidewalks remain to be laid from the school to Sovetskaya Street and to arrange the sidewalk from the intersection with Gagarin Street to the intersection with Kalinin Street. This is all the more necessary because there are several shops on that side.

The entire scope of work and materials, according to preliminary estimates, costs about 700 million rubles. As the road workers admitted, they would have completed the capital repairs faster if it were not for the delays in funding. In parallel, the workers were carrying out tasks at other important facilities.
