The Union State is creating comfortable conditions for its border guards to perform their duties, Denis Glebko, Head of the Information Department of the Polotsk Border Detachment, told a BELTA correspondent. At the expense of the Union budget of Russia and Belarus, two energy-saving facilities – a gas boiler house and a bathhouse – have been built on the territory of the Polotsk Border Detachment. Their launch is planned for the detachment's birthday, September 24. The new boiler house will feature three energy-efficient boilers for heating and hot water supply, and its dimensions are eight times smaller than the old one. It is capable of operating autonomously without maintenance personnel. Meanwhile, the maintenance and operation of the old boiler house, which runs on fuel oil, required significant effort and material resources for fuel delivery and heating, and several people had to be involved daily. The facility will operate at full capacity from the beginning of the heating season. Military service is impossible to imagine without a proper bathhouse, and the Polotsk Border Detachment will have a real SPA center with a steam room, a swimming pool, and even a plunge pool. At the expense of the Union State budget, the administrative building of the "Urbany" border post and the "Urbany" border control department in the Braslav district have been built and are ready for commissioning. The Polotsk Border Detachment guards a 265 km section of the border with Latvia and Lithuania. Over the past eight months of the current year, Polotsk border guards have detained 22 border violators, 233 violators of legislation on the state border, and prevented 92 cases of contraband and administrative-customs offenses. Material assets worth Br1.8 billion have been confiscated in favor of the state, along with 18 units of weapons and 144 units of ammunition. In July-August, on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, Belarusian border guards thwarted 104 attempts to illegally export 83.6 thousand packs of cigarettes. In addition, on the "green" border section, directly at the moment of crossing or in prepared caches, over 147 thousand packs of cigarettes were detained in 25 cases. -0-
