A new hydrotherapy facility at the Braslav Central District Hospital (CDH), equipped with apparatus primarily found in health resorts, is set to become a focal point for tourists visiting the lake district. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the chief physician of the healthcare institution, Alexander Makarevich.
The new department for providing hydrotherapy procedures at the Braslav CDH was established through the initiative of the healthcare institution's management. "During the summer, our district hosts numerous tourists from both Belarus and neighbouring countries. Last year, thanks to the visa-free regime with Latvia and Lithuania, we saw an increase in medical service exports. Visitors from neighbouring countries utilise the services of our CDH. While they seek water-based recreation in the summer, there are limited options for water treatments at other times. Therefore, we decided to establish our own hydrotherapy facility for both local residents and visitors. Funds from the regional and district budgets were allocated for the renovation of premises and the acquisition of necessary equipment, with a total expenditure exceeding Br250,000," explained the head of the Braslav CDH.
Now, residents not only of the lake district but also of the surrounding areas, as well as international visitors, have access to several baths, including those for underwater massage, whirlpool baths for hands and feet, and a dry carbonic gas bath, which is primarily found in health resorts. Patients can receive hydromassage, enjoy pearl and aroma baths, and invigorate themselves with a Charcot shower and a circular shower.
"Water treatments accelerate patient rehabilitation after certain types of surgeries, strokes, and for conditions affecting the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. The hydrotherapy facility will be able to serve patients and tourists seeking to improve their well-being year-round," emphasised Alexander Makarevich.
