New habitat for the European pond turtle discovered in Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve

The European pond turtle, the only turtle species found in Belarus, has been spotted in the reserve for the third time in 20 years.

Due to its low numbers, the species is listed in the Red Book of the country. It is particularly interesting that these turtles usually inhabit the southern part of the republic (mainly the Polesia region). The turtle was photographed and released back into the wild.
