March 20, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A new day care facility for disabled people is opening today in Rossony, Anna Yasinskaya, Director of the Rossony Territorial Centre for Social Services to the Population, told a BELTA correspondent.

The new facility is located at 15 Sovetskaya Street. Its area is 200 sq. m, which has allowed for the comfortable placement and equipping of a gym, a sensory room (for psychological relief), a workroom, an internet class, and a kitchen with a dining area. "Previously, the department occupied an area of 120 sq. m, there were not enough classrooms, so several of them were combined, which caused inconvenience for both the staff and our clients. Moreover, due to the cramped conditions, we could not effectively work with all the equipment we had," noted Anna Yasinskaya.

Br1 billion from the district budget was allocated for the reconstruction of the new building, including current internal and external repairs, installation of necessary utilities, and construction of a boiler room.

Representatives of local authorities, the regional committee for labour, employment and social protection, and local residents will take part in the grand opening of this facility. "This is a significant event for all of us," emphasized the interviewee.

Currently, 21 disabled people aged from 15 to 40 years attend the facility. Among the seven members of the work collective, three are also disabled: a cleaner, and employees of the workroom and computer class.

In total, this year it is planned to open more than 10 various types of departments in the territorial centres for social services of the population of the Vitebsk region: for targeted social assistance, social adaptation and rehabilitation, day care for the elderly, etc. The expansion of the network of structural divisions of territorial centres is aimed at increasing the range of social services they provide and introducing new ones.-0-
