New Year's "Trees of Wishes" will help fulfil the dreams of the pupils of the Vitebsk Children's Home, Mikhail Gusachenko, Chairman of the October District Organisation of the Vitebsk Belarusian Red Cross Society, told a BELTA correspondent. The campaign starts on 15 December. On this day, New Year's trees decorated not with toys, but with children's photographs and their wishes for New Year's gifts, will appear in the "Evikom" shopping complex, the new covered pavilion of the Smolensk market, and the "Euroopt" shop on Moskovsky Avenue in Vitebsk. The dreams of these children are simple and no different from the wishes of their peers surrounded by family warmth. For example, seven-year-old Kirill asks Father Frost for skis and a bicycle, six-year-old Masha for a large doll, and Vika, who will be going to school next year, for a school uniform. The list also includes toy cars, construction sets, smart dresses, and other gifts. Those wishing to participate in the campaign can not only buy a gift but also make a charitable donation. "However, perhaps, looking at the children's faces, someone will respond and fulfil the main wish of each of these little ones - to give them their parental love," noted Mikhail Gusachenko. The charitable campaign "New Year's Tree of Wishes" is being held in the regional centre for the third time, and other districts are also gladly joining it. As wishes are fulfilled during the campaign, children's photographs are removed from the trees. "Every year we have one goal: not to leave a single photograph on the trees," said the interlocutor, emphasizing that this is usually the case thanks to the kindness and responsiveness of people. The handover of gifts to the children's home pupils will traditionally take place on 31 December. Volunteers of the organisation will arrive at the social institution in the first half of the day to delight the children and give them a real holiday. Anyone wishing to join them can do so. -0-
