Festive events dedicated to Novopolotsk City Day will be held from June 6 to 11, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee.
"There will be many events, and in organizing them, we tried to offer residents and guests the most flexible format possible. For example, we abandoned the traditional solemn concert program. Instead, on June 10, a dance evening will be organized free of charge on Stroiteley Square for everyone interested, featuring performances by artists of the Belarusian stage. Similarly, on the eve, we will invite the city's youth, primarily graduates, to the same venue for a large disco – a kind of unified graduation ceremony," noted Vladimir Belyaev, Deputy Head of the Department for Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the City Executive Committee.
Another gift to the city will be the hosting of two major sporting events during the celebrations: the already traditional N. Genov Memorial International Waterskiing Tournament (and this is the second time the competition will be held not in a pool, but on open water – on Lake Lyukhovo) and the S. Lagun Memorial Open Republican Weightlifting Tournament, which is expected to attract even several Olympic champions.
Of course, there will also be traditional events, such as a rally at the historical and memorial complex "First Tent," a festive procession, and the operation of the "City of Masters" fair along L. Novozhilov Boulevard and Kirova Street, where an open city competition for the best master's stall decoration will take place. The city square will be adorned with a unique exhibition by teachers and students of Novopolotsk children's art schools, some of whom will even conduct master classes in fine arts. However, the main three venues during these days will be Stroiteley Square, the Park of Culture and Recreation, and the "Children's Town" in the square near Children's Art School No. 1.
In particular, amusement rides, trampolines, playgrounds, festive trade, and a medieval culture area will be open in the city park all days. On June 8, an unusual flash mob festival-competition "In the Rhythm of the City" will take place here. Additionally, on June 7, a grand celebration of books and reading from the centralized library system of Novopolotsk will be organized in the park. "Our libraries have begun to actively use interactive elements to attract more people to reading rooms – and it works. Throughout June, including during the city days, many different interactive exhibitions, quests, creative workshops, literary flash mobs, and more will be organized," added Vladimir Belyaev.
