The modernization of the petrol station on Chuykov Street was conceived quite some time ago, several years back, but was postponed for various reasons. About a month ago, it closed and was cordoned off with a solid plank fence.
The general contractor is the limited liability company "Pramenerhobud" from Vitebsk. As explained by the chief engineer of the enterprise, Alexander Puchkovsky, the plan is to completely redevelop the facility and create a modern refueling complex. But let's go through it step by step.
The old petrol station, although large, had several drawbacks that caused inconvenience for customers. The pumps were arranged in a line. When a truck or tractor with a trailer drove up to refuel, it would inevitably block two pumps, forcing others to wait. And such vehicles fill up hundreds of litres at a time.
Secondly, modern refueling complexes offer a whole range of related goods and services. At the old petrol station, besides fuel, the assortment included several dozen items for motorists, products from enterprises of the "Belneftekhim" concern, and non-alcoholic beverages in a refrigerator.
The outdatedness and problems of the Chuykov Street petrol station became even more apparent with the launch of the "Lukoil" petrol station on Minskaya Street near the old airfield. First and foremost, its convenience was appreciated by long-haul drivers: easy access, six pumps operating simultaneously, no one obstructing each other, payment made indoors in the shop, which offers a rather extensive list of related goods, both automotive-specific and general use.
The modernization project includes the construction of several parallel pumps, allowing vehicles to refuel without hindering each other. A shop and a small cafe with about twenty seats will be built. It will be possible to have a snack there.
During the modernization, little will remain of the previous structures and constructions. The work is planned to be completed by the New Year. The scope is, of course, large, but the specialists at "Pramenerhobud" have the experience.
