"Our goal has been achieved - people with disabilities are living full lives."

This phrase was heard today during negotiations between representatives of Lepel and foreign partners. Representatives of the International Charitable Public Association "EcoStroitel" and the public organization "Homes Instead of Chernobyl" visited Lepel District.

The guests were welcomed by Viktor Azaryonok, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Veronika Khombak, Deputy Chairperson of the District Executive Committee, as well as specialists from the territorial center for social services for the population of Lepel District.

As noted by Edelthraut Schill, head of the charitable organization "Homes Instead of Chernobyl," the partnership with the people of Lepel has yielded exactly the results they had hoped for. People with disabilities living in the district are living full, vibrant, and rich lives. Many years of cooperation have come together like a puzzle to create a wonderful outcome. The constructed facilities are functioning successfully. Entering them, one feels life, the energy of joy.

-- For us, humanity is a priority, not politics, Edelthraut Schill emphasized.

We remind you that significant social projects have been implemented in Lepel District for many years through the interaction of local authorities and foreign partners. The largest of these in recent times include the construction of a social rehabilitation and habilitation department for people with disabilities, as well as vocational workshops attached to it.

Another project is currently underway, related to children. With the support of German investors, repairs are being carried out on one of the family-type houses on Chuykov Street. The adjacent territory is also being improved.

-- The experience of interaction between Lepel District and foreign investors is evident. Successful partnerships are primarily evidenced by the opening of new socially significant facilities, which have proven their demand and uniqueness over time.

Now we continue to work in the same spirit. Ahead lie new agreements and concrete results, Viktor Azaryonok noted.

-- Our people with disabilities have become completely different. Thanks to the opportunity to realize their

talents, learning new things, meeting and being in the spotlight, people with disabilities have become more open and cheerful. They do not sit at home, they do not withdraw into themselves. Each of them is a full-fledged citizen.

It is gratifying that parents raising children with disabilities have also changed completely. They have become more communal and brave, - noted Veronika Khombak.

Today, during the visit of foreign partners to Lepel, a discussion was organised at the district executive committee, visits to family-type homes, as well as visits to departments of the territorial centre for social services for the population.

It should be noted that today, at the department of social rehabilitation and habilitation of persons with disabilities, 11 vocational workshops, 15 hobby groups and clubs are operating. 85 people attend the department.

It is expected that today's visit of representatives of the charitable organisation will give a new impetus to the development of partnership relations between the Lepel and German sides.
