On June 29, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Vitebsk branch of Belarusian Railways plans to commission two new economy-class diesel trains in the second half of the current year, the regional branch informed a BELTA correspondent. As part of the implementation of a new format for passenger transportation, the new trains will be launched on low-activity sections with low passenger traffic. In terms of comfort and technical equipment, these regional line diesel trains significantly surpass the currently operating ones. In addition, they are economical in operation: fuel consumption per passenger per kilometer is three times lower. The train itself moves quietly, without vibration. The operating speed is 120 km/h. In 2011, Belarusian Railways began reforming passenger transport services. The main consumer qualities of which will be speed, accessibility and comfort, the main attributes – mobility and environmental friendliness. The first stage of reforming was the introduction of urban lines in Minsk, followed by regional business-class lines from Minsk to Brest and Orsha.
