15 July, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Professional kettlebell lifter Anatoly Yezhov set a new world record at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival, a BELTA correspondent reports. In the "bench press of two 22 kg kettlebells alternately for 1 minute" category, on the evening of July 14, he managed to lift the sports equipment 147 times, with a total weight of 3234 kg. Thus, the athlete broke his own previous record, set on May 24 of this year: at that time, he managed to lift the kettlebells 139 times (3058 kg) within a minute. Anatoly Yezhov shared his impressions and emotions about the new achievement with a BELTA correspondent immediately after his performance. "I prepared for this event for three months, so I wasn't particularly nervous before going out, but tried to relax, because in kettlebell lifting, the result depends primarily on the mind – you need to think. For example, while lifting the kettlebells for a minute, I changed my working tactics four times. Moreover, in any endeavor, regularity and gradual progress are necessary – this is the key to success in everything, including kettlebell lifting. And one should not forget: to achieve everything, time must be spent not on contemplation, but on action," said the athlete. Anatoly Yezhov also emphasized that he dedicates his current record to Belarus and its youth, as the achievement was set on Belarus Culture Day and Youth Day, held on July 14 as part of the XXI International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk". The athlete intends to strive for new results. On July 15 in Minsk, he plans to try to surpass the record set the day before, as he was forced to stop lifting the kettlebells due to elbow joint pain 4 seconds before the end of the minute. Anatoly Yezhov's record, set at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", was verified by a sports commissioner, an official representative of the Guinness World Records from London, Jack Brockbank. He noted that setting records in kettlebell lifting is very difficult. "I know several people who tried to surpass Anatoly Yezhov's result, but their attempts were unsuccessful, they didn't even come close," he said. The official representative of Guinness World Records emphasized that on July 14 in Vitebsk, the official registration of a new Guinness record took place, and also explained what is needed to get into the Guinness World Records – simply to be the best in the world.
