Honoured Artist of Belarus, Professor Valery Anisenko has been appointed as the new Director and Artistic Director of the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theatre in Vitebsk, as reported to BELTA correspondent by Svetlana Dashkevich, Head of the Literary Department of the Drama Theatre. A graduate of the Belarusian State Theatre and Art Institute, Valery Anisenko joined the Kolas Theatre as an actor in 1965. Two years later, as one of the most promising young actors, he received an invitation to the Yanka Kupala Theatre. He then studied in Moscow, acquiring the profession of director. At the Kupala Theatre, he staged his diploma production of A. Vampilov's "Duck Hunt," which was recognised as the best production of a forgotten play by a renowned author on the Belarusian stage. Subsequently, he worked as a director for Belarusian radio, headed the Cinema Actor's Studio Theatre, and from 2000, he led the Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama. "Valery Anisenko has returned to the Y. Kolas Theatre to create and build. His immediate plans include getting acquainted with every creative member of our company. In two weeks, at a company meeting, he plans to announce his programme for improving the theatre's creative and production activities," added Svetlana Dashkevich.-0-
