Garage fires pose a significant danger. Freestanding garages are usually located in close proximity to houses. Therefore, a fire in a garage can lead to the rapid spread of flames to nearby structures. The main sources of danger in garages include carbon monoxide, flammable liquids, toxic substances, and disregard for fire safety regulations.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds that in garage premises, as well as in open parking lots, it is prohibited to:
- Paint vehicles, wash parts with flammable and combustible liquids;
- Refuel vehicles with fuel and lubricants, or drain them into the sewage system or onto the adjacent territory. Used fuel and lubricants, filters, rags, and other materials should be collected in containers made of non-combustible materials, equipped with closing lids;
- Heat engines, carry out repair work using open flames (torches, blowtorches, and other sources of fire), as well as use open sources of fire for lighting during repair and other work;
- Conduct gas and electric welding operations.
Adherence to fire safety rules will help you avoid tragic consequences!
